A surveyor and loss assessor is an insurance intermediary licensed by IRDAI to investigate, manage, quantify, validate and deal with losses (whether insured or not) arising from any contingency, on behalf of insurer or insured and report thereon and carry out the work with competence, objectivity and professional values.

Surveyors are professionals who assess the loss or damage and serve as a link between the insurer and the insured. We usually function only in non life business. Our job is to assess the actual loss and avoid false claims there by saving the nation.

Seminar Note

We have conducting a three day motor seminar at Vijayawada Club, Tadepalli, between 11th and 13th, August 2023 with 120 participants from all corners of the country. The seminar was organized by IIISLA Vijayawada Surveyors Unit, centrally located at Andhra Pradesh State where we have a big Autonagar functioning for several decades, the same is considerd to be the biggest in the Asiad. Since, Vijayawada is a major hub for motor transport business, we have opted to deal Motor Seminor at Vijayawada. In this motor seminar, emanent faculty from various stake holders connected with the insurance industry have participated and the attendees of the Semoinar have got benefitted alot in the surveyors perspective enriching their knowledge.

In the current scenario a Surveyor is required to be very knowledgable and should get updated technically so as to deal with the Motor claims pertaining to high end premium segment/ hybrid/ Electrical vehicles. It is the need of the hour for the surveyors to be competant enough to fulfill the expectations of the underwriters. Since Vijayawada is a major commercial vehicles' repair hub, a chance of reviewing about recent developments on BS VI standard vehicles with live demonstration of such technology provided at the seminar venue by various automobile manufacturers which was as a previlege provided for the participants.

There are certain issues which demand a detailed probe required in ascertaining the genuineness of the claim particulary for the FIRE/ THERMALLY DAMAGED vehicles. For facilitating on the same, multiple sessions have been organized in this program with the Expertise ON FIRE & FORENSIC ANALISYS. Persons with Expertization of underwriting and Claim settlement departments of various Insurance companies have acted as a faculty members and discussed various case studies would definitely have enriched the participants knowledge which is the prime motto of the IIISLA behind conducting such Seminors globally.
